The Unmade Made | Noel Clueit

EXHIBITION | 31st July - 2nd August 2009

Gallery opening times:
Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd August, 10am – 4pm

Preview: Friday 31st July, 6pm – 8pm

Everything has been done; already made, ready made, flat packed consumer friendly concepts. The space between invention and the inevitability of giving up is where the work for this new show originates – the gallery space being on the edge of a studio is the boundary between what exists and what doesn’t already.

The Unmade Made refers to the show as the process that precedes it – the requirement and need to produce work for exhibition determines what will be made.

Noel Clueit is interested in the necessity of producing work, set against the presumption of what that work should or needs to be. The artist asks, ‘Bound by aesthetics and history, do we look to art for reflections of the past, for the comfort of knowing what it is ‘exactly’ that we are looking at?’
