Thirty-Six Lime Street is a registered charity & Newcastle’s longest-running artist studio collective and a Grade II listed cultural landmark in the Ouseburn Valley. Our charitable purpose is to advance the arts for the public benefit by supporting artists and increasing access to arts, culture and creative learning opportunities.
We provide affordable studio space for over 60 professional artists, makers and creative practitioners, enabling them to sustain their creative practice, collaborate, and contribute to the region’s cultural economy. Alongside supporting artists, we deliver exhibitions, workshops, open studios, performances and community engagement activities that connect people of all ages and backgrounds with the arts.
Our objectives are to remove barriers to participation in culture, nurture creativity, support artistic development, and inspire future generations of creative talent. We are particularly committed to increasing opportunities for children, young people and underrepresented communities to engage with creative activities, develop skills and confidence, and access pathways into the creative industries.
Through our ongoing programme and forthcoming building redevelopment, we aim to create a more accessible, inclusive and welcoming cultural hub that benefits artists, local communities and the wider public across Newcastle and the North East.
