The Late Shows

EVENT | 17th May 2019 | 7pm – 11pm | FREE ENTRY

The Late Shows, Newcastle and Gateshead’s lively late night culture crawl, is back in the Ouseburn again this year. Here at 36 Lime Street, the Ouseburn’s original artist studios, you can visit us on Friday 17th May to get a rare glimpse into the working lives of some of the region’s best-known artists.

As well as the chance to meet studio residents and take part in a wide range of activities, demonstrations and performances there will be opportunities to buy new and original artworks direct from the makers.

Following last year’s highly popular Late Shows exhibition Bethan Maddocks returns to the gallery again to present The Fallen Forest: an interactive prehistoric forest developed in collaboration with Woodhorn Museum. Visitors can explore and add their own artwork to the growing installation throughout the night.

On the second floor composer Steve Luck will be performing a series of beguiling piano recitals in a darkened studio on a magically illuminated 112 year old grand piano. Leave your glowsticks at the door and enjoy ten minutes of peaceful audio enchantment. Performances every half an hour beginning at 7.15pm. Don’t look. Just listen!

We have another performance at 7.30pm in the gallery where you can experience She-Choir, a cooperative local choir for people who identify as women.

Hole Editions will be running their presses and printmaker Theresa Easton will have squatters in her studio helping to make a zine for Artist Union England.
