The Late Shows

EVENT | 18th May 2018 | 7pm - 11pm | FREE ENTRY

Artists, writers, designers and makers at 36 Lime Street Studios will be opening their doors for The Late Shows, Newcastle and Gateshead’s lively late night culture crawl. This is a unique opportunity to take a glimpse of working life within this iconic Ouseburn location. As well as the chance to meet studio residents and take part in a wide range of activities, demonstrations and performances there will be opportunities to buy new and original artworks direct from the makers.

In the gallery this year Bethan Maddocks and Maria Sears present Paper Jungle, a growing, glowing paper-cut jungle that visitors can add to throughout the evening.

On the second floor composer Steve Luck will be performing a series of beguiling piano recitals in a darkened studio on a magically illuminated 112 year old grand piano. Leave your glowsticks at the door and enjoy ten minutes of peaceful audio enchantment. Performances every half an hour beginning at 7.15pm. Don’t look. Just listen!

Printmaker Theresa Easton will host a drop-in printed poster session (free with donations welcome) and students of glass artist Sue Woolhouse will be providing glassmaking demonstrations throughout the evening.

At 7pm in studio 1E you can catch a special performance from She-Choir, a cooperative local choir for people who identify as women.
