An artist’s relationship with their work is often a profound and passionate affair, marked by an intense love-indifference dynamic. In the throes of creation, they may experience moments of euphoria and inspiration, where their vision comes to life with startling clarity and beauty. Yet, this journey is frequently punctuated by periods of frustration and self-doubt, as the pursuit of perfection reveals the flaws and limitations in their work. It is this turbulent process that “objects of indifference and love” explores. mythologies around the production of art are both exposed and added to in the work of these artists.

Salad is a curatorial project set up by Andrew McDonald and Pat Flynn. The primary reason for setting salad up was for an umbrella title for us too curate a stand at The Manchester contemporary. Salad has continued to have a presence at the fair attending since 2001. This exhibition was supported by a Modest show which is itself was part of the British Art Show 9.
