The Hang Gang is a collective of artists including Matthew Hearn, Sebastian Trend and Thomas Whittle. Interested in ideas of the poster and the printed / reproduced image, RIP presents a series of new works which draw together layers and elements of stolen, borrowed and plundered imagery. Using photocopies, traditional collage techniques and ultimately digital software to compose and layer content, RIP principally manifests as a series of posters which will both combine within the exhibition and be spread individually across the city. Remixing, and reworking source imagery through existing and newly formed conjunctions, these multi-dimensional elements will be further reconfigured in a series of assemblages within the gallery at 36 Lime Street.

The work presented as part of RIP has been developed through a recent aa2a (artists access to art colleges) residency at Northumbria University.
