We are very pleased to announce the 36 gallery OPEN 2024

This year’s programme will allow for 7 exhibitions to take place from March 2024 – March 2025.

OPEN PROGRAMME

Details of this opportunity are as follows:

  • This opportunity is open to artists, makers, curators and studio members. Any art form is welcome.
  • Exhibitions will run for a maximum of two weeks, with up to one week installation in advance.
  • 36 Gallery will publicise the programme via its website and e-marketing platforms.
  • Exhibitors are able to arrange a preview for their exhibition, in consultation with 36 Gallery.
  • Artists and curators are also responsible for invigilating their own shows – each show must be open to the public for a minimum of one weekend (12am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday).
  • 36 Gallery has no direct funding, therefore artists and curators are expected to fund their own shows. Artists must note that 36 Gallery cannot insure any work while it is in the Gallery.
  • Exhibitors must return the space to its original condition after finishing exhibitions.
  • Exhibitions slots are available, covering the first two weekends of each month from April 2024 – March 2025 (excluding August).

Applications can be submitted by email only and include:

  • An outline of intention for the space (including preferred dates)
  • Relevant C.V.
  • 6 relevant of recent work (72dpi JPEG)
  • A link to website or online portfolio if available to

The former 36 Lime Street Gallery was established in 2009 as an artist run space to provide a platform for emerging and established artists to experiment and take risks with new work. Selected by committee from an open call, 8 proposals are selected and exhibited throughout the year.

The gallery space continues to provide a platform as 36.

Exhibitions

36 Lime Street Gallery
Our gallery has an annual programme of exhibitions that runs between April – December. In addition the gallery hosts various pop-up shops and exhibitions to coincide with open studios events and community activities.

We run an open call annually late winter to select exhibiting artists for the coming year. Please sign up to our mailing list if you would like to hear from us about future opportunities.

36 Lime Street Gallery was established in 2009 and is run by a committee of 36 Lime Street members.

Events

We host a programme of events throughout the year. Annual open studios events invite visitors to explore the building, meet the artists and makers in their workshops, take part in activities and provide an opportunity to either buy direct from the makers or discuss commissions. Annual events include the Spring Salon Sale in March, The Late Shows in May, and Ouseburn Open Studios in November.

We also host special events, exhibitions and activities as part of Ouseburn Festival in July and Heritage Open Days in September.

Workshops

Workshops, classes and courses are hosted by artists and makers within their studios or the gallery. We are keen to share our knowledge, skills and experience with enthusiasts who are interested in creating artwork of their own.

We provide workshops throughout the year in glassmaking, printmaking, painting, drawing, and other disciplines. These are designed to suit learners of all abilities, from beginners wanting to try something new, through to master classes for those who want to advance their skills – see individual listings for details.

Bespoke workshops can also be provided for individuals or groups. You can find the creative practitioner you are interested in working with by browsing the Studio Residents section of the site or searching by specialism in the same section. Alternatively get in touch with the 36 Lime Street office to discuss possibilities.
