Having a back ground in jewellery design, followed by a BA Hons and MA in glass, I have previously worked within the contemporary applied arts field and made sculptural pieces (kiln formed glass and concrete) and jewellery (cast glass and silver) to commission alongside exhibition/gallery pieces.
Nature is clearly my main inspiration but an interest to combine materials has led to a deeper concept and the question of what we find precious.
Ranging from sculpture to wall-mounted framed pieces and wearable art jewellery, the combination of naturally found objects/materials with precious materials, offers an exploration in to my personal response to the adjective ‘precious’ and how it connects with material value in an artistic context.
