The Late Shows @ 36 Lime Street | Friday 16th May

Friday 16th May 2025, Ouseburn 6.30 -10.30pm FREE ENTRY

We are back for the renowned Friday night Ouseburn culture crawl that is the wonderful Late Shows!

We have a number of studios opening for the Friday evening showcasing paintings, print, glass, ceramics, sculpture and furniture as well as performances of live music and a gallery exhibition.

The gallery will be showcasing the exhibition ‘Still Building Bridges’ by the Building Bridges project: a group of Newcastle-based sanctuary seekers who participate in regular workshops facilitated by Theresa Easton, lecturer in Fine Art at Newcastle University and 36 Lime Street studio member; Carl Joyce, photographer and filmmaker; and Michael Quille, writer and editor from the Culture Matters co-operative. Through poetry, photography and zine making they explore current social problems such as tackling poverty; caring for the environment; showing solidarity; and upholding the dignity of workers.

Performances, workshops and demonstrations by members include a Rangoli art drop-in with Jayamini de Silva (Level 5), zine-making with Theresa Easton (Level 2),  Atmospherica piano recitals from composer Steve Luck (Level 2), glass demonstrations from Jo Mitchell and Zoe Garner (Level 4) and on level 1, Sue Woolhouse’s Passion for Glass students will be showing their work, and more makers’ studios open to the public. Visitors can wander in and chat to artists and creatives in their workspaces.  View, chat, absorb, listen, and if something takes your fancy, buy or commission!
