36 Lime Street resident artist and studio holder, Jayamini de Silva, is exhibiting her recent work at the gallery from 20th-29th June 2025. Jayamini has explored ink on rice, showcasing work looking into intricate patterns and shapes, using a variety of tools to capture each unique detail.  All artwork displayed at the show is experimental, featuring ink and brush on rice paper.

Jayamini de Silva

Multicultural artist, Art practitioner & Teacher

Jayamini de Silva is an artist and trained visual arts teacher based in the North-East of England for over two decades. She was born in Galle Sri Lanka, and migrated to the United Kingdom in 2004, where she founded JammiArt with the aim to enrich people’s understanding of worldwide cultures through art.

Jayamini had primary and secondary education in Sri Lanka. She holds bachelors Degree  in Chinese art from Central Academy of Fine arts, Beijing, China and holds her Master’s Degree in art conservation from Northumbria University, UK.

Jayamini joined 36 lime street artist community as a resident artist in February 2024. As a visual artist Jayamini uses various mediums and techniques and currently practices in 12 different art styles.

 

 

 


The former 36 Lime Street Gallery was established in 2009 as an artist run space to provide a platform for emerging and established artists to experiment and take risks with new work. Selected by committee from an open call, 8 proposals are selected and exhibited throughout the year.

The gallery space continues to provide a platform as 36.
