'Two pears' oil on canvas
At 36 Lime Street since 1998, Louise Bradley is a visual artist making work inspired by the patterns, rhythms, fragility and supremacy of nature. Finely detailed drawings, layered silkscreen prints of botanical forms, paintings and paper works examine the fertility, beauty and abundance of the natural world. Experimental observational drawing techniques inform much of her works, which reveal emerging organic compositions and themes around interpretation and symbolism.
Drawing remains an underpinning medium for its directness, purity and simplicity. Louise makes her prints at Northern Print in the Ouseburn.
Louise also works as a freelance artist in learning, education and the community, teaching at BALTIC and the NGCA in Sunderland as well as working for many schools, colleges, charities and arts organisations. See her website for more details, news and exhibition updates. Studio visits can be made by appointment, or at the 36 Lime Street Open Studios events through the year.
